Senatobia Resident Accuses Police Chief and Officers of Assault

A video allegedly capturing a police altercation has led to criminal charges against Mark Lesure, a Senatobia resident. The incident, recorded earlier this month, began when Lesure stepped outside his home, where he was cutting hair, to investigate why officers, some with guns drawn, were calling for his girlfriend's son. The video shows Senatobia Police Chief Richard Chandler entering Lesure's home, followed by an altercation where Chandler appears to grab Lesure's neck. A subsequent video captures a tussle where Lesure is tased, inadvertently hitting Chandler as well.

Following the incident, Lesure was charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, among other allegations, which he claims are exaggerated. Despite reaching out to the Senatobia Police for comments, local news media received no response. Chief Chandler was reported to be out of town when media visited the police department.

Lesure, who spent four days in jail without bond, acknowledges his physical injuries have largely healed but emphasizes the importance of the video evidence. He plans to hire an attorney to explore his legal options, as the case continues without a response from the Senatobia Police Department.
