New Jersey Man Files 3 Lawsuits After Video Captures Beating by Paterson Police Officer

A man featured in a video where he was beaten by a Paterson police officer has filed lawsuits against the officer, the police department, and the city.

The incident involved Officer Spencer Finch, who was on duty and allegedly assaulted Brandon Cosby during a domestic dispute call. Cosby was handcuffed at the time of the alleged assault. Finch lost his job following the video's release, with his lawyer suggesting the firing was politically motivated for the city's benefit.

Finch is also facing another case regarding excessive force.

Matthew Priore, Cosby's attorney, expressed his client's shock at the jury's decision. He stated that Cosby truthfully testified for over two days under cross-examination and the video evidence should have made the case straightforward for the prosecution. Priore described the jury's acquittal as baffling.
