Jordan Collins, an Elgin police officer, has resigned following his arrest on December 4th on charges of possessing child pornography. Investigators discovered evidence of child pornography during a search at his residence, prompting an internal investigation by the Elgin police department.
Chief of Police Ana Lalley stated, "The Elgin Police Department promptly initiated an internal investigation in conjunction with the city's independent investigator upon Collins' arrest. When informed of his scheduled interrogation, Collins chose to tender his resignation rather than participate in the department's internal investigation."
Collins faces eight counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of reproduction of child pornography.
